Assiniboine College will welcome high school students to an immersive field day focused on horticulture, environmental sciences, and agriculture, hosted at the college’s North Hill campus today.

"Experiencing the campus and program activities first-hand helps students envision their future and explore the many training opportunities we offer," said Paige Jaenen, Manager of Recruitment at Assiniboine College. "With industries like agriculture and environmental management evolving rapidly, activities like this introduce students to the exciting and essential careers that could lie ahead and how Assiniboine can help them get there."

Students will receive a hands-on introduction to several programs in the Russ Edwards School of Agriculture & Environment and gain insight into the applied research projects and applied learning that happens at the college.

“Activities will offer students a unique opportunity to explore topics like integrated pest management, water sampling and testing at the on-campus creek, soil analysis, and weed identification in the dedicated weed ID garden,” said Chris Budiwski, Academic Chair in the Russ Edwards School of Agriculture & Environment at Assiniboine. “With the growing demand for skilled professionals in agriculture, this event gives students a valuable glimpse into the wide range of career paths available—and how Assiniboine’s hands-on training can equip them with the advanced skills needed to succeed in those roles.”
